Even though Cup-A-Lot is brand new, the team behind it isn’t. We have been in Specialty Coffee since 2001, first starting up a roastery, followed by starting up and running coffee shops, a barista training center and a wholesale activity. We got the opportunity to start buying our green coffee at origin, direct from the farmers, and have been doing so since 2009.
What we have been doing for one roastery, we now want to offer to roasteries across Europe who are looking for the same added value of Direct Trade - without the hassle.
Meet our team:
Tom’s experience is 100% in roasting and green coffee. As a Q grader most of his time is spent traveling the globe to buy coffee. He is also the driving force behind our Congo project. He travels there to work with our partners at en-suring ever better quality coffee year after year.
While Tom’s experience is on the roasting side, Katrien’s forte is in the sensory area. Being a Q grader as well, she has trained baristas, set up coffee shops, and written coffee books. She is also a World Brewers and World Barista Cup Certified judge. At Cup-A-Lot she's mostly taking care of customers and sourcing coffee.
Once upon a time Laura was a rookie barista, but she has since competed in the World Brewers Cup, and has become a Q grader and a mentor to a bunch of green baristas. Today she handles barista training and manages several coffee shops, but her main task at Cup-A-Lot is cupping.
